Abstract

This article offers a typo revision model through three prominent English-Spanish economic, financial, and legal dictionaries. Based on previous studies (Autores, Autores), the occurrence and propagation of typos has been quantified according to their position in the structural components of the works (equivalent-explanation, example, cross-reference, etc.) and to the relationships between subentries (equivalent, homologous subentries, etc.). The global propagation results according to the components are very similar to those pertaining to the occurrence of typos, which suggests a pattern on which to build future research. Even though the equivalent-explanation component stands out both in terms of occurrence and propagation, examples and cross-references have their share. Moreover, a higher number of editions entails a sharp drop in the occurrence of typos in examples, as well as an increase in the occurrence in equivalents and explanations. We hope our work will help to improve the revision of future lexicographic works, in a context where the manual and automatic generation of typos makes human intervention more necessary than ever.
