Variación dialectal y lecto-escritura: leer y escribir en la lengua ombeayiüts

Resumen

Resumen. La lengua ombeayiüts es una de las lenguas originarias de México, hablada en el Itsmo de Tehuantepec, Oaxaca y en la cual se distinguen 4 variantes dialectales. Esta lengua, como la mayoría de las lenguas originarias de México, cuenta con una serie de alfabetos, según las variantes dialectales pero también existen alfabetos individuales, es decir que algunos hablantes han creado sus propias convenciones, en general por transferencia del español, lengua en la cual fueron alfabetizados. En esta colaboración revisamos esta situación y sus repercusiones, en la labor de los docentes bilingües que atienden las escuelas de San mateo del Mar. Dicha revisión es la ocasión de plantearnos algunas preguntas sobre lo que son los procesos de normalización y estandarización de una lengua minorizada y de plantear la problemática en el marco de la definición de un proyecto de investigación que incluya al resto de las variantes.

Dialectal variation and literacy skills: Reading and writing in the Ombeayiüts language

Abstract. Ombeayiüts is one of the native languages in Mexico, spoken in the Itsmo de Tehuantepec, and in which four dialectal variants can be found. This language, as the majority of the native languages in Mexico, possesses a series of alphabets, according to the dialectal variants but there also exist individual alphabets, that is, some speakers have created their own standards, generally by transference with the Spanish language, in which they were alphabetized. In this work we review this phenomenon and its implications on the labor of the bilingual teachers who work in the schools of San Mateo del Mar. This analysis arises as an opportunity to consider some questions on what are the normalization and standardization processes of a native language, and it’s also a chance to contemplate the problematic within the frame of defining a research project which includes the rest of the variants.
